Horizons Trust Gambia (HTG) has delivered 500 cord clamps to the maternity unit at Gambia’s Brikama District Hospital after learning that they were completely out of stock and resorting to the use of thread instead on the babies, significantly increasing the risk of infection. The unit had encountered some logistical and procurement challenges, so HTG provided sufficient clamps to keep them going until the supply challenges were overcome.
